Linux Format free to download for 24 hours only

Surprisingly enough, the spreadsheet folks behind LXF have agreed to let us put online LXF116 for everyone to download. Yes, that's the current issue. No, it probably hasn't even reached Australia yet. So yes, we're probably going to lose a few sales. But we're hoping we'll make up any lost sales in community goodwill - we promised we'd thank everyone for our ABC rise by giving something back, so here you go.

It's not going to happen every issue - in fact, this could well be the only time we do it! - but if we help a few thousand more people learn to love Linux then it's mission accomplished as far as we're concerned.

The only catch behind this - and it's fairly small, we think - is that the magazine will be online for only 24 hours. After that we'll be pulling the link from our site, so you won't be able to get your mitts on the PDFs legally unless you're a subscriber.

The PDFs will be going online AT MIDNIGHT TONIGHT, and we hope we'll get a lot of people downloading it. You can help with that - please pass on the word that people should go to http://www.tuxradar.com/content/linux-format-free-download-24-hours-only (or http://tinyurl.com/lxf116 if you prefer shorter URLs!) tomorrow to download the PDFs, otherwise they'll miss out.

My god, I LOVE YOU GUYS! The city I live in dosent import LXF, and my student economy can't afford a suscribtion of it either since it costs twice as much as the average computer magazine in Sweden.

Granted, it's twice as good too ;-)

Past midnight, site speed OK but the link is to a torrent not the proported .pdf. I don't do torrents... neither does some one else on the tuxradar site as they are behind a proxy. Can we have a simple direct link to the .pdf?

DaveL: No. There are 1300 people transferring the file right now. If we offered direct download, a huge number of folks would use it and that would kill our server. If it quietens down, we'll make it an option.
