Hi Bruno,

This thread would be better off in the Magazine or Hardware forums -- let me know that you've seen my reply and I'll move it.

As for Mandriva, it looks like you can extract the contents of the CD ISO, put them onto a USB key and make the key bootable -- see this tutorial:

http://lordikc.free.fr/wordpress/?p=63#comments

(The first comment is the English translation.)
(grin)

It's a bit like, a long term educational process in a way.
A person just can not trust in their sensories.
It reminds me of a Twilight Zone episode i saw once, about a space flight simulator in a fair ground.
Delusion becomes normal and only the insane can truly see (wild_cackle.png).

Notice the way in which people who over train, such as athletes, can become so sensitive to illness. Like, distance runners and Multiple Sclerosis events. I'm thinking here specifically, of the .au runner 'Betty Cuthbert'.

Incidently, i smoke, and currently have a very worrying throat situation developing at the moment (damn it).

I think habit will often tend to over-ride sense, which just goes to display its' power.

I wonder, does this somehow relate to MS's currently ongoing 'Lets do something nice for the 3rd worlds kids' initiative

hmmm, time for another ciggy, i </cough> think.

Tried it on another directory, and I have the file list I expected, so I'll try it again.

EDIT: Okay tried it again and, it creates a listing of file names, with a blank line in between each line. I think that the error I'm seeing is rm trying to delete that blank line, as when I re-run fdupes on that directory it finds no dupes, so it is working.

Well, from an adult perspective I can see where you're coming from re the MacDungheap cash register.

However... young kids love playing "shop"; it's a good way to practice handling money, giving change etc. My daughter used to love her Barbie "talking" cash register, although it drove us up the wall.

The target age group (3+) won't care about the future implications - at that age the burger bar is a fascinating place. And by the time they realise what working there is really all about they will have long since trashed/lost/given away the toy.
On the LXF Team Blog, you can now post comments in the entries themselves, rather than having to post here. Originally we linked comments to these forums to avoid spam, but we're giving anonymous blog commenting a trial run. I've put some common spam words into the blacklist -- we'll see how it works out.
It's really funny that Szilvi drank pure orange squash. Especially since it happened to me, as well:

When I first arrived in Britain, on my first working day I went to the next supermarket and bought some "orange juice". It was a really horrible juice - extremely sweet - but I bravely finished the whole bottle.

After a while one of my new colleagues asked me if I drank the whole bottle without water, because he could not see a water bottle on my desk. Once he finished laughing (took quite a while) he explained to me how to use squash correctly...

This will NEVER happen to me again

, I used to really like pulling machinery apart. Now i would be inclind to hide out somewhere. (grin).
I think i felt the most excitement, when i was first learning BASIC, rather than anything else. But i wont be blaming my own boredom for to much, i think
