Create a new user for her with whatever password she wants. Add her to the admin group ifou want her to be able to use sudo on everything. This will create a home directory for her with everything set to default. You can delete your home directory before handing it over.

Reinstalling to add a user seems a little extreme, even Windows doesn't require that!

A fresh install just might be best, after you strip your own data from it.It will feel less like a hand me down to her then she gets the fun of breaking all on her own.

Enjoy the Choice

I'm giving my old eeepc to my daughter. Her laptop has issues. My eeepc only has one - duff battery, so it uses AC power only. Since my daughter only uses her laptop on AC, it's perfect for her.

However... She prefers Mint 11 with the standard setup. I use standard Gnome 2 on it currently (demintified Mint 11). I have passwords setup. She uses other passwords.

Will deleting the .gnome (or similar) directory reset the distro or will it not solve things like the password? Am I looking at a fresh install?
