Lucky you, I'm trying to turn an inaccessible Vista recovery environment into a useable virtual machine on a system that totally hangs every few minutes. I may have finished by Easter

I have all updates disabled on windows. Stops them from locking up my genuinely honest to gosh copy of windows 7 ultimate that I in no way got from torrents!

Yes steam does save your game progress and achievements.

If you have your windows disk you should be able to boot to the command line and run

Code:

chkdsk /f

I'm guessing a update as borked your system.

If you are sharing 1 (partitioned) disk between both os's do backup first, don't want be you losing your linux stuff.

Yes I know it is. I mean that specifically my windows setup is borked.

Linux works fine, but I tried to boot windows to play Fallout New Vegas and the flipping thing won't boot at all.

So I'm gonna do a full reinstall. I could do with a shift around of the resources anyway.

Problem is, I could really do without losing my save files. Anyone know if steam saves them? If not, can I back them up? Any idea where to look for the files. I tried the default folders but couldn't find anything labeled as save files.
