There are so many ways of booting distros that manual examination of each one is the only reliable way of doing it. Chainloading the syslinux bootloader for each distro from a master one works best, but you also have to fiddle with boot parameters, or even edit init scripts in initrd images, because so many distro boot systems work on the assumption you are booting from the root of an optical device.

There is no magic bullet that works for all distros.

                                      Hi!

I can't speak for Ben, but when I used to make the LXF DVDs, I integrated the different distros manually. There's no magic tool to do it all automatically for any distro -- sure, there are things like multicd, but they only work with certain distros.

Ultimately, most distros have different directory layouts, boot options etc., so you have to be aware of these differences when fitting them all together on a single disc. It can get pretty complicated, and I did a lot of hacking on initrds and boot scripts back in the day.

Hope that helps!

Is it a Linux or Windows program?

For Linux, I've heard of the limited 'multicd' script. There appears to be better utilities for Windows.

I'm looking for a Linux utility or script(s) so I may take the Linux LiveCD ISOs I've downloaded from the net, or from your DVDs, and create my own custom multi-live chooser LiveDVDs. Thank you.
