I doubt if they are anything to do with the weather widget. It's probably coincidence that were are 7 when I took the snapshot. They have gradually accumulated over many months but I have no idea what I did to create them.

Is that some kind of weather widget? There are 7 of them and it looks like a 7 day forecast. The first day indicates a sunny day but the widget seems unable to get data for the rest of them (or can't find the correct icons), hence the squares...

They look a lot smaller than KNotes post-its.

Sorry that does not seem to have worked. This is something I am quite unfamiliar with and would be grateful for any further help. I am not at all clear about how it is supposed to work. I think I've got it now. Try this:

Here's the screen shot. The yellow blob on the left of the offending squares is the sun shining in the weather icon.

Paste the URL. (I think using " [url] and [/url] " either side will work here...?

I am glad to see this thread taken up again. Thanks Bruno.
I have tried running the mouse over them when they are both locked or unlocked. There is no effect in either case.

Are your widgets unlocked? That may be the cause. When mousing over something when widgets are unlocked, a bar appears on the right hand side as described by nelz.

Not having had any further posts I wonder if my last message has been misinterpreted. I was not signing off on this thread, merely expressing thanks so far and hoping to encourage further assistance. I still need some help in getting an image on to this forum so that we can carry on where we left off.

Thanks for your patience with this rather trivial thing. It's more of an irritation to me than a problem. However, it does seem to me that it is easy to put widgets in the panel or elsewhere on the desktop in this version of MInt but there there's no obvious way of removing them. Perhaps resolving this issue might be useful in a wider context?

It was the same for me earlier today, but it is working now, just after 20:08hrs. Presumably their server was too busy, or had just gone down earlier.

I would if I could but, after looking at the FAQs for this forum, I do not know of a "publicly accessible web server" where I can put the image. Can you suggest one please?
