You can change the text area background colour in Kate from its settings window.

Hi all.

Im using/experimenting with KDE at the moment.

I find it very hard (headache inducing) looking at the white panes (inside the windows).
For any length of time

I've had a look at the system settings and I can see a setting called "view background".

If alter this colour (to something like a light blue colour, then it's much easier on the eyes).
But anything the requires a white background (like the Kate or Gedit text editors
main text entry screens are then also turned light blue too)

So is there a way to change the background panes of windows without affecting everything else?

(Like how you could change the insides of windows to a pattern or a colour in the older versions of Gnome/Nautilus).

I've had a good Google round the net and experimented with some of the settings (in system settings) without much joy.

Info -
OS = Ubuntu 12.04 LTS

TIA for any help or advice.
