KANOTIX64 is the way forward,

I tried the 2005-01 release, and it worked a treat straight out the box.
The problems i ran into were with non-debian software and a shortage of debian 64 .debs, such as the Flash plugin for Firefox - there isn't a 64bit version yet.

Soon everyone else will catch up and we'll be dancing the 64bit dance along with our 32bit brothers but I am, for now, using the 32bit KANOTIX as it is a fine Debian distro!

Nod, caught up with Deb's news and I am going to be an avid reader from now until the day it arrives. I concede I never really bothered with the news *duh!* I simply went to the mirrors to see if AMD64 had been released yet, always I left deflated.
Ah well....

I think it's to be released very soon. FWIR the Debian constitution had to be amended.......

BTW, there is a 64bit Kanotix which may run on AMD64.....

Title pretty much say's it all. Linux has been touted as "the only 64bit OS for over a year now, with Windows 64 not even in sight" *rough quote from our beloved mag. So why the hell are we in the postion whereby the grand daddy of distros supports the newer intel 64 platform but not the established AMD64?
