I tried that and X crashed on KDE startup
Someone said something about this being addressed in the current issue, so I'll see when I get hold of a copy.
thanks anyway

Think I remember seeing something like this in an LFX issue a while back

1. Edit xorg.conf and in the Input Device section under Mouse add
Option "Buttons" "7"

2. add the command xmodmap -e "pointer, 1, 2, 3, 6, 7, 4, 5" to ~/.xsession (create this file if it doesnt already exist)

3. Restart the X server

Now you should be able to test the buttons presses by running xev on the console

Kind regards,
I have an intellimouse, with seven buttons: 1left, 2middle, 3right, 4,5wheel, then 6 and 7 as extra buttons by my thumb. I want to use those two buttons for something like volume control or maybe track skipping in amarok. As far as I can tell, this can't be set up in the xorg.conf file. Does any one know how this could be done?
ta in advance. Tim
