This is one of the reasons often given by newbies for abandoning Linux....
Oh sorry, did you say WINDOWS wouldn't play DVDS without downloading a Codec ?

You get the codec when you install something like WinDVD or PowerDVD... which often comes free when you buy a DVD drive or a new PC.

And once you have one of those, why would you want to use Media Mangler to play DVDs ?

i used m$ media player 10 for the first time last night to look at a dvd and it couldn't play it and said i had to go to another site and pay for a codec to play it what's all that about, as you know i love uncle bills distro as much as mandriva but that's taking the p##s!!!!!!!!!
i have to say though that the dvd was from a friend at work who had "backed up a copy" of it
still having to pay
