The annual Debian Developers' Conference 2007 is taking place in Edinburgh, Scotland, this summer, with around 400 developers attending from around the world.

As a prelude to the main conference itself, a public open day will be held on Saturday 16th June. The aim of this event is to explain to the general public what Debian involves, and to demonstrate the benefits that Debian and free software can bring.

There will be a number of talks throughout the day, as well as a series of hands on demonstrations. Events will be suitable for both a technical and non-technical audience.

Confirmed guest speakers include:

Bdale Garbee - Linux CTO, Hewlett-Packard
Patrick Harvie - Green Party MSP
Knut Yrvin - Trolltech Ltd
Andreas Ehn - CTO, Spotify AB

The event will take place in Teviot Row House, Bristo Place, Edinburgh, EH8 9AL, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. It is free to attend, but those planning to come are encouraged to register online at http://www.debianday.org/
