I have a USB floppy, but haven't used it for many months. If you want a rescue disc, either use your distro's install disc, Knoppix or UBCD.

IMHO the answer is to get a USB floppy drive - one of those they sell to go with laptops. So you can move it from machine to machine as required on the rare occasions you still need one.
Assuming, of course, that your new machines are capable of booting from a USB floppy drive...

I built a system without a floppy drive and was quite happy for months, but then I discovered that I needed to update the firmware on my DVD writer, there was a Windows installer (naturally) or a boot floppy provided, now I could have written the boot floppy to a CD, but ... well I'm sure you can see the problem.

Use the cd afterall we live in the age of bootable cd's/dvd's

I built my first pc without a floppy drive and was wondering how many people still rely on a floppy and still add the drive?
