Ah right. Most lists either dump or bounce non-subscriber posts.

It used to have a public web archive and spam bots picked up the ML address via that. None of the spam posts make it to the list as anything posted by a non-subscriber is flagged for moderation, but 99.9% of the time this is spam.

Usenet was superior, before the spam got out of control. but without the subscription control, it's impossible to prevent.

How can spammers post to your LUG ML? Is it open-posting? Or are some of your members spammers?

Although I have to manually filter 20-30 spams a day on my LUG's mailing list admin panel. I do prefer them to forums but they take getting used to. I personally think Usenet is superier to both but hardly anyone uses it anymore.

If you read it in its context of a reply to A-Wing's question, it makes perfect sense. When dumped in with other posts, it's less clear. Another reason I prefer mailing lists to forums.

VMware has suspend as well . It would be good if VMware had DirectX support included. Then gamers could have Windows Running on Linux if they wanted to play their fave games that havent yet been made for Linux. But then there is always Cedega.
Is there another VM program that has DirectX support?

I use it to run Linux on Linux most of the time. Xen is not suitable for distro testing as it requires modified kernels. It also has the great advantage that you can suspend a running machine, much like suspending a laptop, so firing up a particular distro to check something is much faster. I have around a dozen VMs suspended and ready to fire up in a few seconds, only one of them is Windows.

Ho hum - ATI driver support is available from livna.org - have a look at fedorafaq.org for more details.

I've used it and it is painless... UT2004 seems to fly
What other use would you have for VMWare workstation? to run Linux on Linux most people would use Xen or Linux Vserver.

Bochs development appears to be stalled, although I haven't checked the mailing lists. From what some hobbyist OS devs have said, though, Bochs may be slower but it's better for debugging.
