Well, if that was the reasoning behind the riddle, then bringing back one's shadow is wrong anyway - the shadow is attached to the worldly corpse (unless it is levitating), not the place that the dead must be brought back from.

My resurrection machine ran into a few problems. It brought people back from the dead just fine, but then they died again. What I need to invent now is a panacea machine

A puzzle that ignores reality, or is internally inconsistent, is not even a puzzle, and definitely not an "intelligence test"
If anything, it displays the lack of intelligence of the person who poses it, because they have a basic misunderstanding of both logic and reasoning.
