I see there is now a 0.1 version release of Elementary OS, you can read a pretty comprehensive review of it here. The one drawback to this review being that two of the apps at the heart of the difference between Elementary and other Ubuntu derivatives are Postler (e-mail client) and Dexter (address book), neither of which the reviewer uses.
OMGUbuntu has a much briefer review that manages to tell us even less, but might be better for those who like less text with their screenshots.

Any "useful" information seems to be located in the forum, which isn't necessarily saying a lot. It's a little unfortunate that it was as long ago as January the 13th that a big fuss over a forthcoming "Jupiter" release was made, however I see from the forum that they are only expecting to make an alpha release this coming weekend.
There are also some odd, cryptic remarks on the forum, apparently from the admins.
As I mention above, I think Elementary has some interesting ideas about some improvements that can be made to the Linux desktop experience. The only thing is, I'm not sure it justifies it's own distribution. Ho hum, hype and buzz when all one really wants is well designed software.

Very iOS-esque scrollbars (or scroll indicators, at least). Agree with jjmac though -- can't find any useful info on the site. It'll be interesting to see if it takes a fresh new approach to distro making, or is just some spit-shine on existing apps...

It sounds like they were initially a program dev/creation project. And now they are going to release a OS. Possibly as a wrapper.

Linux ... ok, as there linux apps i guess they must be but there doesn't seem to be anything on the site that discusses the distro itself. Possibly in the forum or faq. In any case i just did a wget on it, so i can look closer tomorrow.

Can't help but notice the PayPal links too. I usually go into Maynard G Crebs mode whenever i see those links, but here goes -- click --

Nope, nothing there to tell me much either.

Why hasn't the site got any info on just what 'Jupiter' is, and 'how much'. I would have thought they were key points.

Not to worry though, it seems every site, or almost every site i go to always seems to leave out what i would consider essential, like, just wtf they actually are/put together etc.

No quotes about Dr. Watson here, but (yet another) Linux distribution. The Elementary Project is about to release it's own version of Linux, to be called Jupiter.
I have used Elementary Nautilus on Ubuntu and found it better than the vanilla Nautilus (hardly surprising, given the "simplicity" of Nautilus, adding any feature is a bonus). Looking at the screenshots of Dexter and Postler, I am struck by how much they resemble OSX apps.
The idea of having names from your address book no longer recognised as spelling mistakes is quite a good one, indeed, I am often surprised when I type in the name of the OS I am using and find that highlighted as a spelling mistake, one would think that would be the one customisation that would be made to the default spell-check word list by any distributor.
If it's not on the LXF cover disc at some point in the future, I might have to download it for a look see.
