                                      This might sound like a daft question, and I apologise if it seems a tad patronising but...  You did &amp;quot;burn image&amp;quot; and not &amp;quot;burn data disc&amp;quot;, didn't you...?</description>

                                      A few years ago there was a problem with some BIOS that meant they could not boot Linux; check if there is a firmware upgrade for your BIOS.</description>

                                      This is very frustrating.  I downloaded the latest distros of the following: Suse, Debian, Ubuntu, Slackware and Fedora.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Ubuntu has an installer and the install hangs with a message pointing to the install log which claims no iso was found.  The others are boot discs and simply do not boot.  Message says &amp;quot;can't boot&amp;quot; and then windows starts up...&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
Laptop is a 6 year old Fujitsu Lifebook N3511.  Are there any hardware issues I need to/can resolve before Linux, in any form, will boot?&lt;br /&gt;
