The availability of the ISO's via bittorrent went through the roof soon after the announcement was posted on slashdot...

Mirrors taking a bit of a pounding, helped along by a good old fashioned /.ing

http://linux.slashdot.org/linux/05/09/15/125207.shtml?tid=190&tid=106

I keep trying other distros every few months, but always stick with Slack.

Its easier to use, you can install other stuff easily from source, you can configure it more accutly without breaking other bits.
You get to learn how to use the apps as they were originally developed, rather than how the distro has messed with them and edited them to fit, Slackware is more like a wrapper.

This box started life as 10.0 in Apr '04, then I upgraded to 10.1 and now 10.2 (upgrades NOT re-installs). And everything seems to be working perfectly, then again, wouldn't expect anything less

Thanks Pat!

(My subscription copy takes a while to arrive but I could always send out some burnt iso's from download if interested, ie Freindly Guy, what with the dial up, pm me a mail address if interested....warning though, it usually takes me a week before I even notice the msg's doh!)

Last time round I relied on LF to put it on a disc & they did a month or so later.

I liked Ubuntu but am back on Slack. It just seems so much easier to configure how you want. Source code seems to compile better on Slack better than any distro I have tried (& I've tried a fewwww).

I am on dial up so I hope LF comes up with it soon.
I mean to get back into Slackware at some point -- I ran it from about 2000 - 2004. However, I switched to Ubuntu this year, primarily because it was so easy to get all sorts of little apps and libraries from Universe.
