Could someone please suggest an C++ ide for linux? I was thinking kdevelop, which leads me to my next thought, could it be free and open source?&lt;br /&gt;

That sounds like a request in terms of generics to me, so --- when it comes to a very smooth, generic,  gui designer ... the FLTKs' fluid designer would be worth looking at.&lt;br /&gt;

note: The configuration method is via a 'project(s)', which also serves as a useage tutorial.&lt;br /&gt;

                                      Eclipse, Qt4, Monodevelop (For Console Apps), KDevelop  all free and open.  &lt;br /&gt;

Depending on your distro they could already be in the repos.</description>

                                      Hi there, I have dug out my Sams C++ text book. I have one problem the supplied ide is for windows and is also woefully out of date. &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
