Over at PCLinuxOS, Texstar and company have been testing various cvs versions of the forthcoming xorg 7, the release dated 1st Oct 2005 has been pulled apart by the gang over the last day or so, and has proved pretty much unbreakable, as a result it is now in the PCLOS Stable repos as of this evening.

Hugely improved "nv" driver, many improvements on other cards (ata, sis etc), nvidia 3D driver seems to go faster/better/smoother with 3D programs though not so noticeable with 2D.

A whole pile of other stuff is being moved into stable, and Texstar expects an interim 9.2 release soon. I know he's hoping to get Hotplug completely replaced by udev, but latest udev releases need very careful packaging for stability.
