                                      as stated above, depends on the netbook.&lt;br /&gt;
Some Atom processors are 64 bit, but the Intel chipsets recognise a maximum of 2GB, so there is no point running a 64 bit OS, quite the opposite.</description>

                                      Put the RAM in, boot a live distro and see how much is recognised. You won't do any damage as long as the RAM has the correct physicsl form factor.</description>

                                      It depends on the netbook, some use 32-bit chips and some 64-bit, and the amount of ram supported by the motherboard also varies. In any event, even 32-bit linux will recognise 4GB of ram if the hardware allows it.</description>

                                      Iv read somewere that netbooks are 64bits but only deign to take a max of 2 gb of ram when running windows&lt;br /&gt;
well when I was fitting a new hard drive to my girlfriends netbook I notice it has to slots for ram and only 1 is being used so since i have 2 x 2gb or ram spare I was wondering if I installed 64 bit ubuntu on if it would reconise it?</description>
