I'm currently using AntiX which is based on Mepis I think. It's very feature rich, fast and leaves me about a gig on the hard-drive.

One particular thing I liked about it, was the mouse pad scrolling was working in the browser -- something I couldn't seem to find working on some of the other distros I tried.

I should really give it a try on my eeePC 4G. It's currently running Debian and it's fine, but taking up too much space (Debian is getting bloated because of all the wastage dependencies dev's are putting in...)

Has anyone any other suggestions for an Asus eeepc 4G?
I am using netubuntu but not happy with it and it just takes too much space.
Android looks good but not enough apps of the type I want just yet.

Wow, thanks for this. Must give it a go. I've tried loads of different distros on our Eee 701 4G, and though some have been OK, they've never really been tuned enough for the low spec. Peppermint Ice is the one we're using at the moment, but it's got a funny habit of just hanging when you're in the middle of something, and just shows a black screen with no option other to hard reboot.

This might be the answer.

Just installed Android for X86 processors on my eeePC 4G (the first ones) using UNetBootin. It's tiny and lightning fast. If you want to resurrect an old PC for just basic stuff like browsing and chat, this is worth a try.

Note: Many Apps won't work on x86 because they need to use native ARM-codes, but the OS comes with a good selection of software ready to go.
