Oh my god you are a legend!!!

I was totally going down the wrong track trying to install drivers, injecting modules etc...

I thought I had network-manager installed but obviously not.
Something called "Network monitor".

Totally put me off trying to install network manager

SO simple, I love the simple solutions!!!

Have you followed the NetworkManager instructions for your specific desktop environment here:

?

Have you got networkmanager installed ?

Is your wireless network displayed when you click the networkmanager icon (by clock) ?

Have you tried entering the wireless network settings manually in networkmanager ?

What is the output from:

Wireles-tool installed, plus the firmware-ipw2x00

Ok so more info:
ubuntu is not booting at the moment a kernel panic - flashing caps lock,
can't roll back as I had cleaned out the kernels, lesson learnt, but i one have 40GB in this drive!!!

Is there more I can do?

This posting is in the wrong forum section, it should really be in the "Help" section.

and tell us how far you are getting, or which part you are having problems with.

Have you added the "non-free" component to /etc/apt/sources.list and installed firmware-ipw2x00 and wireless-tools ?

What is the output from:

OK so i've no wireless on debian 6.0 on a IBM Thinkpad T42.

I love debian but for some reason I cannot get wireless to work on a thinkpad!!!

I can upload a hardinfo output if that would help!

Basically I've loaded up all the drivers I think I'm suppose to but could someone help me here go through it.

I've added the Intel IPW2100 chip module/driver I think.
