                                      Not necessarily. Linux already supports GPT and EFI but Windows doesn't; so it isn't possible to use GPT with Windows. That may have reduced the incentive to improve GPT and EFI for Linux.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
By leapfrogging Linux to UEFI, Microsoft may just have provided the incentive to shift Linux down the road. I suspect the underlying issue is the need to handle disks of over 2Tb.</description>
