Ah, but you can gold-plate it.

A favourite pastime of middle managers, in my experience, and often resorted to when the mess from mere polishing begins to rub off on them.

It is an important task of senior management to put their foot down before things go too far... .

On talking about Microsoft's frequent delays in releasing caused by them tweaking Windows:
