Mint 11 with the proprietary ATI driver works brilliantly.

I have a PC with an integration Radeon 6530D graphics chip. I am having some difficulty installing any Linux distro on it and getting it to work properly.

I've had the most success with Ubuntu 12.04, which I coaxed into booting up, and working reasonably well, although the screen resolution can't be changed from the default.

I haven't yet tried installing the proprietary ATI driver, although I tried that with Mint and it totally bombed the system.

Any suggestions?
