Correcting the errors using Synaptic resulted in an unusable OS, as it wiped out dozens of packages.<br /> <br /> The problems only became evident when I installed LibreOffice 3.5.7, all the icons appeared as expected but I couldn't get any component of LO 3.5.7 to load.
