                                      awnsering my own post but some one else might need to know&lt;br /&gt;

upgrading from mandrake 9.x to 10.x breaks the login a bit&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
9.x uses devfs 10.x uses udev when you upgrade you get both which causes some problems. Easiest to do an install rather than upgrade.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
shows the wisdom of installing any non standard programs into /home/&lt;span style=&quot;font-style: italic&quot;&gt;username&lt;/span&gt;/bin.</description>

                                      hi, bit of a weird thing. Upgraded my mandrake10 offical installation to the mandriva linux limited edition. now when i go to log on the system takes about 10 minutes to log me on either as a user or as root. no problem previously.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
any ideas? Where would i look to see whats going on log file some where.&lt;br /&gt;
