I've got a faster computer now so I'm using BeebEm on WINE. I couldn't get the UNIX version to install so being lazy I chose the WINE route.
Thank you for all your suggestions!

Do you need and emulator or just those games? There are ports of both those games to linux. A quick google for 'repton linux' will yield a result in the top 10 and for elite you need oolite.

See: http://www.nvg.ntnu.no/bbc/

Maybe try http://www.mikebuk.dsl.pipex.com/beebem/index.html (native or windows/wine version) or see http://www.google.com/linux?hl=en&q=bbc%20micro%20emulator
I've used BeebEm/wine in the past and it worked fine (after all, the BBC was only 1MHz wasn't it?), but haven't used any BBC emulator recently.

P.S. what distro/desktop environment do you use (kde, gnome etc.)? It may be faster running a less demanding window manager (e.g. Fluxbox, XFCE etc.). Also, there may be some unnecessary services running, depending on the setup.

                                      Hi,
Can anyone recommend a native BBC Micro B emulator?
I feel like playing Repton and Elite but I haven't got a TV to use with my Beeb.
I've used windows BBC emulators using Wine but they run too slowly.
But that may be because I used a PII laptop, and everything seems to run slowly on that.
