I've just downloaded the source and made a parallel build on my PCLinuxOS machine. The only requirements is that you install a few "devel" files first, for libcups, python, lcms - at the end of the "./configure", you get a list of anything missing, and you just have to install the corresponding devel rpms through synaptic.

Up and running, I prefer 1.3.0 instantly. You get "intelligent" mouse cursors which reflect the actual tool you are using at any given time -- far more comfortable. It seems pretty much unbreakable, like almost any version of Scribus these days, Stable Tree, Development Tree or CVS, the code base is so solid that they seem to be able to heap on the features without any serious problems.

And what is really exciting is that they are not finished. It's already a powerhouse, and every new feature is useful, not gimmicky.

Well done, guys, nice work.

Hot on the heels of the 1.2.2.1 release comes Scribus 1.3.0 - La Liberté, which is a technology preview of the next generation of Scribus. Anyway, you can read all about it here.
