Setting up a virtual private server (VPS)

Postby bertan » Mon Aug 25, 2014 11:16 pm

If you already have some Linux skills, you'll find it easy to set up a virtual private server (VPS). You can use a VPS for such things as building a virtual private network (VPN) to keep you safe while visiting coffee shops, airports, hotels, and the like. Contents:

1. What is a virtual private server?
2. Registering a domain name
3. Choosing a VPS provider and package
4. Connecting to your VPS with SSH
5. Extra security for your SSH sessions
6. Host a website on your VPS
7. Build a virtual private network (VPN)
