With Ubuntu going Unity, and Fedora going Gnome 3, I'm fast running out of desktops I want to use. I was never a fan of KDE and am not keen on LXDE, except where speed is essential.
So I'm left with XFCE. I quite fancy it when it comes to being very Gnome-like in feel, but faster.
It got me thinking - I can't be the only person with a whizzy PC who doesn't need their distro to be super fast, who likes the whizzy, but dislikes Unity, KDE and Gnome 3.
So I was wondering... Is there any chance of an article on how to customise XFCE to make it as beautiful as we can make Gnome or KDE? Speed isn't an issue for me. I want eye candy and customisations coming out the wazoo! I'm sure this is Mike's field of expertise here... _________________ AMD PHENOM II X6, 14 GB DDR3, 500 GB hd, 1GB nVidia card, running Linux Mint 14 KDE / Win 7. Damn thing keeps breaking.

You should find a tutorial on XFCE written by yours truly in LXF146 (last month's issue - LXF147 I think is the one now on sale in the UK).
If I remember correctly I briefly covered how to get Emerald/Compiz working on the second spread. _________________ Bob Moss writes for LXF and is studying computer science at the University of Plymouth, UK
