|
|
Is it possible to create a USB stick installer from the LXF 152 DVD so I can try out on my netbook.
I've booted Ubuntu from the DVD on my PC and run the "Startup Disc Creator" but I'm not sure what to select for the CD-Drive / Image and also it says my 3.7GB USB stick is not big enough?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks, Pete |

You need an 8GB stick these days.
Is there an ISO file on the disc? If so, use that. If not, and bandwidth and download speeds are not a problem, go to the Ubuntu page and grab the ISO file from them:

You probably need the 32 bit edition for a netbook (mine does). If you're not sure, stick with 32 bit.
When you've got the ISO, point the startup disc creator at that file as the image. _________________ AMD PHENOM II X6, 14 GB DDR3, 500 GB hd, 1GB nVidia card, running Linux Mint 14 KDE / Win 7. Damn thing keeps breaking.

Thanks for your reply heiowge - I'll need to get a bigger stick and I can't seem to find an ISO on the DVD.
I think I may be able to create an installer from the complete DVD if I had a larger stick.
My broadband isn't very broad otherwise I would try what you suggested. |

Use Unetbootin, http://www.linuxformat.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=14292
You will need a bigger stick, a DVD can hold up to 4.3GiB (4.7GB) so an 8GB stick is in order. _________________ Unix is user-friendly. It's just very selective about who it's friends are. |
