When did Linus start producing a desktop distro?

How can any thread that refers to Linus be off topic?

Who said anything about producing?

If you mean the distro he uses, that is named by those that produce it, it is not up to Linus to give it a name.

Anyway, you've got no more chance of getting people to stop calling it Linux than you have of getting people to stop calling their vacuum cleaner a hoover. The war is lost.

True. But who said anything about naming it?

My point entirely. Though I do feel sorry for anybody called Henry Hoover who tries to google themselves.

C'mon people, if Richard Stallman has taught us anything it is to be ever more pedantic in the face of unsurmountable odds.

If you can't beat them, annoy them.
