Which distro uses lowest system resource (when installed on hard_disk/usb.) where I can install software from Debian OR Ubuntu repository?

I found Quelitu which is based on Lubuntu, but uses less memory as given on their site. There are lighter distros but most of them are based on Slackware. I don't have much experience so want some expert opinion. Thank you in advance.

Have a look at Bodhi, on the DVD155. It comes with very little software on it, but can use anything from the ubuntu repos.

The e17 desktop/window-manager is a bit different to most, and may take a bit of getting used to, but it is lightning fast, and extremely attractive, in my opinion.

Galpon Minino is built on Debian and will run on a 64Mb machine using around 1.5Gb hard disk space.

Also look at Puppy-Ubuntu (I think from a recent LXF coverdisk?) as it appears to have a very small footprint but does access mainstream Debian/Ubuntu applications.

Bodhi Linux looks and sounds great.
Heard Galpon Minino for the 1st time, so will look into it.
I didn't know Puppy has a Ubuntu version.

So, thank you all. It's nice to get variety of suggestions to try and learn. Very Happy

The awkward moment when you have to google how to install bodhi cos you can't see the shortcut...

My word it's quick though!
