|
|
| I don't know if this happened with Oneiric, but since I installed Precise I have noticed that Google Chrome put itself on my Startup Applications. Processes like "chrome-no-startup-window", "chrome-sandbox", "chrome-type-zygote", etc. keep on running on the background. If I remove Chrome from my Startup Applications, it will show back next time I start the computer. Does anyone else noticed this? Any idea on how can we stop Chrome misbehaving like this? |

I have chromium installed and a quick look through my running processes shows none related to chromium.
So it looks as if it is an issue with the chrome packaging. |

Thanks for your feedback. I'm going to replace chrome with chromium and see what happens.
I double-checked and can confirm that every time I launch Google chrome, it puts an entry on the Startup applications. On next startup it will start many hidden chrome-xxx processes and sometimes will start using my bandwidth downloading who knows what...
Very bad behaviour, it reminds me MS viruses. |

It's probably telling Google all about you and if you check the fine print on Chrome's eula it might even mention it.
Enjoy the Choice |

OK here's what happened. There's a choice on the "Under the hood" options of Google chrome /chromium where you can allow google apps to run in the background. I have unticked that and now everything is fine!
