Anyone know how I can get my mp3s on an old sony mp3 player I've resurrected? Just point me at a tutorial if you want. My problem is it uses MTP - something I've never used.
My google skills have failed me. All I can find is that some programs do support it or guides to using it with an ipod.

If I remember correctly there is a mtp package that is used by both Rhythm Box and Amarok.
Enjoy the Choice |

Have you tried changing the Sony mp3 player setup to use usb mass storage mode? I have a small simple mp3 player that defaulted to mtp mode, which was definitely not my choice, but a quick search soon found how to change it to usb mass storage. _________________ Ubuntu 10.04 user, and loving it! |

Don't know if you fixed it yet but in case not one very important file I think you need is mtp-tools. I needed that to copy files from Amarok to my Samsung Galaxy from kubuntu 12.04.
It's in the repo.

Edit - I note it is the 2nd article entry referred to by Fat_Tuesday. I found that single file to be the "silver bullet". |
