Steps back in amazement! A major Western company is providing their tablet with a detachable keyboard that is as portable, snazzy and hopefully usable as the beast itself.
I truly wish it sufficient success to prod Apple, Samsung and all to go plagiarise! _________________ Cheers,

Is the detachable keyboard on my TF101 not usable? It seems to be okay when I use it. _________________ Bye, Rhakios |

Oh, yeah, I forgot about that. Still smarting from the lack of a 7" version. Doesn't deserve remembering. _________________ Cheers,

How can you have a usable keyboard with a 7" version?
My only real gripe with the Transformer is its weight, it's a lot heavier (without keyboard) than an iPad. _________________ "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." (Albert Einstein) |

I see the new TF300 comes in a little bit lighter (and not just on price), but not that much. Never having owned an iPad, I've not had the opportunity to compare, but I don't find the TF101 to be unmanageably heavy. _________________ Bye, Rhakios |

I've got a transformer and have also played with friends iPads, and if there is a weight difference I have never noticed it... _________________ For certain you have to be lost to find the places that can't be found. Elseways, everyone would know where it was |

Try switching directly between them, especially when lying on bed, and you'll really notice it.
I prefer to think of my Transformer as solidly constructed rather than heavy _________________ "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." (Albert Einstein) |

I'll have to remember to try this out next time I am in bed with an iPad... _________________ For certain you have to be lost to find the places that can't be found. Elseways, everyone would know where it was |

For some reason, I suddenly envisioned nelz as the personification of Hedonismbot from Futurama, bunch of grapes in one hand, iPad in the other, complaining that the Transformer was just too heavy to be worth lifting.

Ask Psion if they can still remember how they did it. The keyboard on my old Series 5 is smaller than that on my modern 7" tablet, and famously usable. _________________ Cheers,

Good point, although I think our expectations were lower back then - and the ability to carry it in a jacket pocket made up for the somewhat fiddly typing. I had one of the old 9" Eee PCs and the keyboard on that wasn't brilliant if you have large hands, whereas the Transformer keyboard is near enough full size.
Hmm, something the size of a Series 5 running Android would be rather nice. _________________ "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." (Albert Einstein) |

My Kindle has got a keyboard of sorts, and it's quite usable, albeit only with one finger. _________________ Eric |
