For me, a little more info would help.
Are these connection details for your Windows PC at the same place where you want to use this canle net?
Who supplies the cable net?
Is there already a router to which the Windows PC connects - it has an address supplied by DHCP of a form which infers the presence of a router. _________________ Derek |

I have to agree with Dan; what is the name on the physical box connected to the cable and are you plugged in via Ethernet? _________________ still looking for that door into summer |

It could be a USB modem.
we need to know the model if it is.
look on the underneath of it. _________________ The sig between the asterisks is so cool that only REALLY COOL people can even see it!

Perhaps you should be looking at wvdial, it was what I used before I got ADSL broadband _________________ still looking for that door into summer |

So for the Windows dailer do you have to provide a user and password.
Then this is the info needed for NetworkManager.
The comment about usb is for the gnome / kppp dailers.
Here is the solution according to the poster in the artical.
Edit the network connection go DSL option and clicked the add option
Put the required user name and password and kept the service name blank
in PPP setting I removed all authentication option saved and restarted the Ubuntu.
Still it was not working then I kept the 'CHAP' option ticked, removed all other and restarted.
Still it was not not working then I again tick all the option and it was working.
Remember: Tick the Connect automatically option on in both wired and dsl tab _________________
