|
| I have installed 64Studio 2.1 (based on Debian) from a DVD and it brings me to a text prompt, but no graphical desktop. I tried typing "startx", but it didn't recognise the command. This exhausted my expertise and has left me with an installation that I can't use. Is there some way to get into the graphical desktop, assuming that it uses one? |

Assuming you have the repo's set up properly, and there is indeed a GUI in there, issue these commands
| Code: | | apt-get update && apt-get install gdm gnome-core xserver-xorg-core | This pulls in all required dependencies for the GUI. Let it finish, then reboot. If it fails, it'll tells you why it failed, so study the error message carefully. |
