As a follow up to the kids-friendly OS article, is there any chance of an article on Parental controls, specifically things like setting up a whitelist for browsers, or using Gnome Nanny or similar?

Hi Heiowge,
By spooky coincidence (or perhaps I can read your mind) I just finished a feature on parental controls for LXF 166, mostly focusing on DansGuardian. It explains how to set up web filtering by page content and URL, and also whitelists.
I wanted to include Gnome Nanny as well, but it appears to be dead now and doesn't work on Gnome 3 distros...

Fair enough. Thanks.
As it happens though, they're doing a Gnome 2 based distro atm (Mint 11)  But as I am considering switching to Mint 13 with MATE on them, do you know if Nanny works there?

haha, just read that in the 'Next months' of the issue (lxf165) that popped through the letter box this morning.
