Help! My resolution won't switch back to 1440x900 (default). When I try and switch it back, my monitor just displays a notice that it has no signal!
This doesn't appear to do anything:
Any ideas. Oh, and the windows partition is displaying the correct resolution. _________________ AMD PHENOM II X6, 14 GB DDR3, 500 GB hd, 1GB nVidia card, running Linux Mint 14 KDE / Win 7. Damn thing keeps breaking.

Oh, and the image size here is down to photobucket. Damn thing keeps resizing them to 1024 x 768... _________________ AMD PHENOM II X6, 14 GB DDR3, 500 GB hd, 1GB nVidia card, running Linux Mint 14 KDE / Win 7. Damn thing keeps breaking.

Booting into KDE solves it. The driver is even set to the nVidia proprietary one.
Looks like it's just MATE. Although it was working fine this morning... _________________ AMD PHENOM II X6, 14 GB DDR3, 500 GB hd, 1GB nVidia card, running Linux Mint 14 KDE / Win 7. Damn thing keeps breaking.

Resurrecting this topic. Now KDE is having the issue. Even a reinstall (including the /home partition) will only give me 1360 x 768 instead of 1440 x 900 (as it used to be). Everything looks stretched. I don't like it. _________________ AMD PHENOM II X6, 14 GB DDR3, 500 GB hd, 1GB nVidia card, running Linux Mint 14 KDE / Win 7. Damn thing keeps breaking.

...aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaannd it's sorted again!
Turns out that the VGA splitter didn't support 1440x900 (even though it says it's fine with higher resolutions and below). I realised it wasn't a driver issue when I had the same issues with Windows. _________________ AMD PHENOM II X6, 14 GB DDR3, 500 GB hd, 1GB nVidia card, running Linux Mint 14 KDE / Win 7.
