Sounds over-dramatic. Why does the hardware need throwing out? It just needs to be re-programmed. (I have made that comment on Glyn Moody's blog)
Glyn is an OS advocate, but saying things like that does no good at all. He leaves an image of entire machines being ripped out of the wall and scrapped. Even if the Norwegian government "requires" it, he could have pointed out that it should be unneccessary.
