I dont buy the mag EVERY month, so dont know what has beemn included.

3 I can think of.

1) Hybryde. Easily switchable between 9 various DE/WMs in the default download. I use this for my enlightenment 17 experience. Great for discovering what DE you prefer

2) Bodhi... seems to be the the default distro for enlightenment 17 nowadays and they have excellent enlightenment documentation.

3) qt4-fsarchiver. An ubuntu based distro with a gui for fsarchiver + gparted etc. I have it on my multisystem USB stick which I always use for backups + moving partitions etc.

4. OpenBSD - BOOTABLE!

I'd like to see a BOOTABLE OpenBSD on the Coverdisc DVD, not a simple
.iso file with the only option to manually burn, then install. A usable
modern OpenBSD bootable option on your DVD would be great - and what
many people are searching for. I don't know whether you would have the
patience for this undertaking or not, but it shouldn't be too complex.

There's no such thing as 32 bit or 64 bit Gentoo as far as the files are concerned, since they are only source code. The bittiness of the installed code depends on your profile and CHOST settings.

Just use System Rescue CD, it's what I usually use to install Gentoo. It even works with ZFS now, which was the one advantage of the latest Gentoo DVD.

without a long slow download. I've been a LXF
reader for years. Thanks NETZ, just suggesting
a cover disk that isn't Ubuntu, SuSE, Fedora, debian, etc.
All good distros... just suggesting a new flavor.
I was aware of the rescue dvd, which is good,
but not a full blown version. :)

Fair enough, but I don't believe that Gentoo works on cover discs (and having used Gentoo for nearly ten years and made cover discs for even longer, that's not a conclusion I came to rashly). As a distro in its own right, it really needs a decent Internet connection. However, as a construction kit for other distros it is really good, and some of those make good cover disc material.

I agree that we need more than the usual suspects.

Incidentally, the Gentoo live DVDs are both 32 bit and 64 bit on the same disc, it autodetects which kernel to use, but there aren't many of us left that are daft enough to run 32 bit Gentoo (I have it running on a small 486 box here).

I missed Manjaro. I didn't spot it on the disc. Was it 32 or 64 bit? If it was 32, it could be why I didn't remember...

If I was going to pick a linux distro that emphasised security, it wouldn't be a linux distro - it'd be OpenBSD.
