How to make a Live USB of my ubuntu server

Postby dtohjam » Thu Jul 04, 2013 2:39 am

Hi, I have an old acer290 laptop that I use as a media server (mediatomb on Ubuntu 11.04) Worked beautifully with a number of remote players including a PS3. However ubuntu has ceased to support the 11.04 version. Before upgrading I'd like to make a clone (or near clone) of my system as a LIVE USB. With this, I can reinstall the whole system if I screw it up. Is this possible?, and if so how?. Suggestions appreciated.
Thanks, Dtohjam

I think 'remastersys' may be the tool you want, but have always fought shy of working out how to control it.

I trust you've confirmed that the laptop will boot form a usb drive of the type you propose to use.
