Powercool 550W Modular Power Supply.

Postby Narendra » Thu Oct 03, 2013 12:53 pm

Hello,
I just received the above power supply from the Maplins and upon testing On a POWER SUPPLY TESTER, a -5V light is not switching on! I had 2 like this before and showed the same results like this and returned them. This is a third one! The -5V light on a tester does not switch on.Could this be faulty too? I am not sure!

I have not installed this and one of the last on the computer because I do not want any hassle of removing them.
Please let me know if I am doing anything wrong. 3 power supplies can not be wrong.
The tester is not faulty because a generic power supply shows all lights!
Please advise.
Thank you.

It is probable that your PSU does not have a -5V output. This got dropped from most designs a while ago because motherboards had stopped using it. So you should be fine with what you have.
