LXF 179 Antix to Live USB boot problem

Postby Cushie » Sun Dec 01, 2013 4:33 pm

I seem to have trouble making a live USB from the distros on the disk. I can load the DVD and trial run AntiX 13.2, so I tried to install AntiX onto a usb stick for use with my netbook. With Antix loaded I selected install, pointed to the usb stick and proceeded to a very slow install. At the end I could find no option to put the bootloader onto the usb, so as not ruin my existing hardrive (there was a Windows option but I don't run Windows.) On exit the files seem to be written ok, I set a boot flag using gparted but I need something in addition to get the OS (grub) to run.

Any help would be appreciated.
Regards.

Thanks John, that link was very comprehensive, if not complicated.
I was hoping I just needed to run a routine the sort out the bootloader as everything is in place on the usb stick.
I later found there was an .iso file on the DVD so I will try Unetbootin after Disk Creator failed to recognise the iso file (non Ubuntu?)
Regards.
