I installed the base of 3.1 and now I want to install x windows and kde.
I tried to use aptitude to install x and x11 is listed as not installed.
Try to use apt-get install x11 and I get an error message " package not found"
Searched the DVD and there is no x11 package on the DVD.
How do I install "X" and kde?
I installed pysol with "apt-get install pysol" so that worked, pysol was installed
with the dependicies.

I think the package is called x-window-system-core I think you also need to install a window manager seperately i.e.

apt-get install x-window-system-core
apt-get install gnome-desktop-environment

Hope this helps,

Dave.

You should be able to install KDE, which will pull in X as a dependency.

It's one of only two really useful user interfaces, the other being the console!

Thanks for the reply.
I followed your suggestion and got X running with XF86Config-4 from my librenet 2.8.1and got KDE runniing.
When I boot, I only get a command line prompt, KDE does'nt start.
I have to use "startx" on the command line, then KDE starts but I have to move the cursor to the left or bottom to get the rest of the screen. Doesn't start a full screen. On my libranet, I get a full screen.
How do I get a graphical logon and a full screen?
