You know, I don't get it.

Organised crime, terrorists and foreign powers don't give a toss for our privacy, petitions or laws. Do we want our government agencies to fight back or don't we?

Facebook, Google, Amazon and the other Big Boys have already joined organised crime and foreign governments in collecting and analysing more of your personal life than you would ever believe. Do we want our government agencies to fight back with the same powerful weapons or don't we?

If you believe our governments are acting like Big Brother, then you believe we have already lost.

Why not ask them to set up a legal framework to regulate and monitor their use of this technology, not just ban it. To slap down any naughty boys who might break those laws by abusing the system for personal, or any other, reasons? What, did I hear somebody say they already do?

No, I just don't get it.

Everyone has good talking points about the existing laws but no gov gives it's court systems enough cash to enforce all the damn things. So it boils down to who screams loudest gets the resources,in this case I guess we aren't screaming loud enough yet.

How silly of me, I never realised the Director of Public Prosecutions had to count the pennies before bringing a prosecution. I had this vague idea that his remit was more concerned with the public interest....

Isn't he a political appointee of one stripe or another even if not the he still has to account for his resource usage to some bureaucratic body.
