Up until now, Finland's copyright laws clearly allowed individuals to make copies for personal use. For example, you could copy a music CD for your own use in different places, say your house and car, and so on. But now toeing the EU line, they've just voted in the new tighter law:
Parliament Passes Controversial Copyright Law.

I'm all for protecting copyright holders interests - I mean, if you have spent time and money, and you livelyhood depends on, say, record sales then you have the right to that being protected. But this sort of responce, will neither boost sales, nor combat piracy. It will just open the door for big corporations to bully private individuals.

its a shame it really is, why the governments let themsleves get bullied by big corporations into making stupid laws I do not know. Its one thing to try and combat piracy but to say you cant rip your cds to use on an MP3 player?? I usppose the only upside is that it will be very hard to enforce.
Its sad to say but I think slowly but surely the world is no longer being run by governments but my big corporations Sad

That's been the case for a long time - it's only now that it's beginning to show.

Yeah I suppose thats true, having said that whilst we were less aware fo it, you could argue less harm was being done. Alternatively it may just be that it was kept quiet far more efficiently.
