We have included the source in the past, but it is big and most people don't want it. Compiling it is something of a black art, not to mention the time it takes[1]. even Gentoo recommend using the binary installer for most people.
[1] I recently compiled 1.1.4 on my 1.2GHz G4 iBook and it took over sixteen hours. the only reason I bothered is because earlier versions have a couple of security holes and there is no binary installer of 1.1.4 for PPC. _________________ Unix is user-friendly.
